Tatcha The Deep Cleanse Review
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5 stars)
Tatcha The Deep Cleanse Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, like Tatcha’s other cleansers, has gained a significant following in the world of skincare. With its unique blend of ingredients, including the trademarked Hadasei-3™ complex, this cleanser promises to deliver a deep cleanse while offering potential anti-aging and antioxidant benefits. Tatcha’s The Deep Cleanse washes well and feels great, but how does it stack up against its anti-aging and sensitive skin claims?
Personally, I find Tatcha Deep Cleanse to be a refreshing option for those times when my skin needs a thorough cleanse, especially during summer months or after a workout when my skin tendsto be sweaty and oily. The texture, scent and light exfoliation added to the appeal. It also leaves my skin feeling clean and bright. However, it’s essential to note that this cleanser may not be the best choice for individuals with dry or highly sensitive skin, as it can be somewhat stripping. And some of the ingredients may be of concern for individuals with sensitive or aging skin, especially the added fragrance.
Key Ingredients:
- Hadasei-3™ Complex (Saccharomyces/Camellia Sinensis Leaf/Cladosiphon Okamuranus/Rice Ferment Filtrate):
- This blend of three fermented filtrates from green tea, algae, and rice softens and soothes the skin, providing antioxidant benefits.
- Benefits: Anti-Aging, Soothing, Antioxidant
- Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract (Japanese Rose):
- Derived from the Japanese rose, this extract offers antioxidant abilities and is a natural source of vitamin C.
- Studies show it is effective against photoaging and may possess anti-inflammatory properties.
- Benefits: Anti-Aging, Antioxidant
- Glycerin:
- Glycerin is a skin-restoring ingredient that is naturally found in the skin.
- It functions as a humectant, helping the skin retain moisture and is a fundamental component of most moisturizers.
- Used in concentrations of 5% or less, and in higher amounts (10% or greater), it aids in skin healing.
- Benefits: Hydration, Anti-Aging, Humectant, Texture Enhance
- Potassium Hydroxide:
- Also known as lye, potassium hydroxide is a highly alkaline ingredient used in small amounts in cosmetics.
- It serves as a pH adjuster/stabilizer and texture enhancer.
- In higher concentrations, it can potentially aggravate the skin.
- Concerning ingredient.
- Fragrance:
- The presence of “fragrance” in the ingredient list can be concerning, as it may irritate sensitive skin.
- However all Tatcha products are free of phthalates, a more concerning type of fragrance.
In conclusion, I really like Tatcha The Deep Cleanse. I love a face wash that leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh and this one does just that. Like all Tatcha products The Deep Cleanse offers an array of impressive ingredients, however I have some concerns with the addition of potassium hydroxide and a few of the potentially harsh fragrances. Moreover, the price point, at $40, is a bit steep for a face wash. For me this is an every-once-in-a-while treat, not a must have. In fact I typically just buy the mini, which is a fun treat when I’m traveling and easier to justify the cost.
