Clean Beauty Moisturizing Treatment with Ingredients Safe for Sensitive Skin
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Drunk Elephant is one of my go-to brands. Their products use high quality, clean ingredients that are safe for sensitive skin and great for anti-aging. And since my skin tends to skew dry and I always recommend moisturizing products for anti-aging (I’ll take a zit over a new wrinkle any day!) I was eager to try one of their newer additions, the F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Masque – a moisturizing treatment that’s creating quite a buzz.
Intense Skin Hydration:
With a blend of electrolytes, vitamin F, and niacinamide, the F-Balm masque means business when it comes to hydrating. Its texture glides on effortlessly and quickly sinks in. Packed with antioxidant-rich and powerful moisturizing ingredients such as coconut water, sodium PCA, magnesium PCA, and prickly pear extract, these electrolytes play a vital role in maintaining hydration levels in the skin. They also support barrier strength and lipid content, calm redness, and offer protection against environmental dehydration. This makes the F-Balm an even more suitable option for sensitive skin types, creating a haven of gentle and clean ingredients.
Overnight Boost:
Drunk Elephant recommends combining the F-Balm masque with their TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. This provides a light exfoliation that is approved for sensitive skin, along with the moisturizing treatment. So that’s just what I did, I put on the Glycolic serum first, let it sit in for a few minutes and then added the F-Balm mask. The morning greeted me with soft skin that wasn’t at all oily. Overall, I would say this is different than using a regular nighttime moisturizer in that my skin felt softer than usual, but I didn’t notice any plumping that I would expect from something billed as an “overnight treatment”.
Gentle & Clean:
For those with sensitive skin, fret not. The F-Balm is free of irritants, essential oils, silicones, fragrance, and PEGs making it safe for all skin types including sensitive skin types and allergy prone skin types.
The Final Verdict:
When it comes to the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Waterfacial Masque, it undoubtedly softened and hydrated my skin. However, I am sure some of the softening came from the exfoliation. I’m not sure I’d say this is a necessary staple in anyone’s skincare routine, it doesn’t seem to do much more above your standard nighttime moisturizer. I think this is only a must have for someone with very sensitive skin that has trouble tolerating exfoliants. In that case the combo with the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is a good way to get that needed exfoliation while protecting sensitive skin. However, for me, it’s fun to test and I will use up the rest of the bottle, but I won’t be repurchasing.
